Step 2: WordPress Setup 2016-11-09T20:38:42+00:00

In this WordPress setup tutorial, we will use SiteGround web host but you are free to use any one of your choice. The steps required are basically the same. As we said before Siteground is a great host with many features that make it the perfect web host for a WordPress blog.

Choosing your hosting plan

First, click here to get the SiteGround special sale price of 3,95€ per month. Pick the StartUp plan, this is the plan recommended for a starting blogger. In future, you can upgrade to a better plan if needed. Click “Get Started” to advance.

Next, you will pick a domain name or use one if you have already registered one. If not you can register on Siteground and it will be free if you pick up a 1-year plan.

Enter you domain name and click “Proceed” to confirm if it’s available. If the domain is unavailable you will be given a list of similar domain names that are available. You can choose one of the suggested domains or type in another name to try.

Once you have found one available you will be taken to the information page, where you gonna put your personal data and payment information. Fill in the required information.

Once you complete the client and payment information scroll down to the purchase resume. In here you need to confirm the plan chose and you can choose the data center location and confirm the period of time. Siteground offers the same price per month for the 1-year to 3-years subscription but in our opinion the best it’s to pick up a 1-year subscription.

You can let the extra services unchecked if you don’t wanna add this features. Posteriorly you can upgrade and add this features if you need. Confirm “Terms of Service” and click “Pay Now” to advance.

Once your account is setup, you will receive and email with your account information.

Install WordPress

Now that you have completed the Siteground registration you are ready to install WordPress on your host. Siteground provides a simple way to install it with their Setup Wizard. You also have the option to install it via Softaculous, this method is used by almost every hosting provider. In this tutorial we will explain how to use the two methods.

SiteGround Wizard to Install WordPress

To install WordPress using the SiteGround Wizard, first access your Customer Area with the username and password obtained from the registration on Siteground.

Once you login to your Customer Area for the first time, you will see a popup asking you if you want to have WordPress preinstalled on your account. Select that option and click on the Proceed button.

The next page consists of two parts. In the first one, enter the login information for your new WordPress application.

  • By default, Siteground will suggest a username and password for you. You can use the same or use any username or password of your choice. Make sure you don’t use ‘admin’ as username and use a complex password to keep your login secure.
  • Siteground also installs & activate Limit Login WordPress plugin by default, which protects login from brute-force attack.
  • Ensure that admin email address is working.

Next, pick one of the free WordPress themes available in the Wizard and click on the Submit button once again.

Finally, you will see a quick summary of your WordPress installation, including from where to access your admin area, your username and your password.
